To Lovedad,
I am so sorry to hear about your Dad, it is frustrating when someone just doesn't get it. You have to learn one thing though. Neither you or your Aunt can get him sober. He and God are the only ones who can. Sad too, is that he may never get it. The absolute best suggestion that I can give you and many others I am sure will agree is that you, and your aunt look online under Alanon and find the nearest meeting and start going. In there you will find comfort with others who are in the same boat as you are. I know it is tough on you, the kids, and your dad to not let them be around him when he is drinking but you are doing what is absolutely right. If the children are older they will understand, and if very young then it may be necessary to say Grandpa is sick today which is not a lie at all. Good luck and God Bless all of you.

Just found this site and wondering if it is even active? Not a memeber yet, but the possibilities are endless. Located in SJ,CA. Anybody out there?

I'm at my wits end! I've had my Dad in and out of the hospital since after Christmas. He drinks, still, even after the Librium! I'm trying to get him to understand what me and my Aunt's are trying to do, but he's just not getting it. He has a BIG heart and would do anything for anyone, but himself (evidently). I know you the people here are, and have been sober, but if there's anyone out there who can help, PLEASE! He'll be 62 at the end of February. He really needs someone to talk to. I'm married, work full time and have 3 kids (and live 45 minutes from him). I try to get over there when I can, but it's not easy. If he's been drinking, I don't like to take the kids over. We had a big blowout tonight and I'm here because I don't know where else to go. Any suggestions?!!!!

I've been on more than a few sites "looking". Still no luck. This my last one. Maybe I suppose to just be for a while. I've been sober since 1987 and I would love to meet someone to share some of my good fortune. I'm sucessful in business and now I would like to be sucessful in love. I love myself very much and I know when it's my time,my HP will provide me with what I need. I have some things to learn about male/female relationships and look forward to what the right man has to offer.
