Starbucks is moving toward expanding its involvement in the entertainment business, seeking movies and books to promote hoping to duplicate the success it has had with music.
I think this is a great idea and will actually help the dating industry. Now singles can meet for coffee and a movie.
Being sober and single is tough enough, and now that there are places to meet others without going to a bar or club where alcohol is the main focus makes the whole dating process a bit easier for singles who do not drink. Add a movie into the mix and you have your first date with no hassles, not to mention a great starter to the conversation to ease the sometimes awkwardness of what do we talk about.
Starbucks will be promoting movies in places such as the sleeves of its coffee cups, and selling the soundtrack at the stores. The DVD’s of the movies will also be on sale at Starbucks.
This, in my opinion, is a great way to start. I know it can be frustrating on a first date trying to make it as pleasurable as possible, but what better way to break the ice for sober singles than a good cup of coffee and a movie.
Starbucks steps further into movies much like McDonalds and Burger King have done for so many animated children’s movies. This will not only help the movie and music industry, but may give the dating industry a boost as well.
